First Presbyterian Church is "the heart of Ashland." Our congregation was founded June 11, 1819 by the Poage family. It is the oldest congregation in Ashland and Boyd County. For over 200 years, our church has been worshiping God and serving Him through various outreach ministries which have have a positive impact on the residents of the tri-state area including Eastern Kentucky, Southern Ohio and Western West Virginia. Our ministry expands further though the Transylvania Presbytery, of which we are connected to the larger Church. We participate in the Ashland Area Ministerial Association which is comprised of the various congregations in Ashland.

Our congregation exists to reach the community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As a result, we are always looking to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of people in our area. We are a proud congregation, in that we are excited to be a part of the Kingdom of God and its ministry and outreach to those in need.

Our worship is traditional. However, it is also contemporary in our desire to make a positive difference in the lives of all who join us in our activities and mission. We welcome you to join us as faithful followers of Jesus.
